The power of a 'clap' or an 'applaud' can fundamentally change the way we interact with each other on the planet.
Many people 'clap' or 'applaud' a talk or performance to indicate whether they like a performance or not. This approach is based very much on a 'right' or 'wrong', 'good' or 'bad' theme.
Many people may not have ever questioned why they applaud. It has just been a learned reaction.
The power of an applaud can change the world!
If we simply changed the reason to applaud to be one of saying 'thank you' – Thank you for contributing (whether good or bad), thank you for putting yourself up there on stage as a human being and trying for us all, thank you for having a go – we could help teach the world to favour cooperation and generosity as opposed to competition and favouritism.
Every time I go to the theatre, I anaylse peoples' behaviour when it comes to applauding. There is a range of reactions but many people clap for no reason. A good clap is as great as a good belly laugh. To clap with energy as if you were saying thank you for sharing this (good or bad) is a great feeling and it reminds you to not judge people but to celebrate our creativity as human beings.

Everyone wants to be clapped for, a unilateral symbol of approval and camaraderie, delightful!
