Are your TEDx speakers speaking primarily on local topics or more global/national ones?
I previously asked "How far would you travel to a TEDx event?" -- http://www.ted.com/conversations/589/how_far_would_you_travel_for_a.html -- but then realized that those answers are logically based on whether the theme was aimed at a broader-than-local audience.
Hence this question.
We're definitely encouraging primarily local attendees in order to build and support a local TEDxBloomington community, but our speakers, both local and national, will be speaking to topics of entirely broad appeal, worth watching in person or via the Livestream from anywhere.
I'm very curious about other TEDx organizers' preferences/decisions, as well as the preferences of TEDx attendees in various communities.
