Continuous evaluation of the understanding of a class when giving a lecture

Background:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbBz9J-xVxE

Problem:
Teachers and lecturers classes don't always know what is being received by the audience. Esp in big classes where the students might feel intimidated to raise questions during lecture.

Solution:
Create an easy access platform where students of a class continuously can indicate whether or not they understand what is being said. Additionally the teacher should be able to ask conceptual questions to evaluate the the understanding.

How to get there?
First make a website where teachers can start sessions representing their class to which students can join (effortlessly and FREE). The website and the functions should be accessible through the webbrowser and also by an "app" running on all the mobile platforms.

Who wants to help?

Sep 29 2011: Raising the hand can be verry usefull, however I come from a engineering science background where no one dares to show that they don't understand, so no one says anything about anything...

Lectures should only be a small part of a cource I agree! but my colleges who are really taking advantage of per-lerning have found it difficult to remove the lectures completley.

BTW, did you watch the youtube clip?

This until lectures are finally taken out of the current realm of enclosed spaces, out into the light, and turned into conversations among FEW people who acknowledge each other's inherent wisdom and unlimited capabilities, regardless of age. We hear wonders from the mouth of babes every day...
