Debate or Dialect, can both coexist or is it either or?

All men believe they are right in there convictions, with a dialitic the point is to come to an understanding of the reasoning's of others. Now at some point, no matter how tolerant, you will come to a point of clash of beliefs. You may understand their reasons but you believe their reasons to be wrong and yours to be right, leading to debate. So does a dialectic have to come to a crossroads where debate must begin? Can we debate and tolerate when the point of debate is to find the truth, meaning some has to be wrong?

An interesting way to look at this is through Hegel's idea of Thesis. He believed that there is a Thesis and an Antithesis which will clash to find one grand truth. This is at clash with Ying and Yang, one is not better or separable from the other they exist together.

  • Sep 11 2011: Debate or Dialect

    Or finally Dialog

It is all dependent on if the participating is to be in the frequency of Dual ( Hegel's) or Non-Dual ( Tao ) and yes it is not a matter of One being better then the other, it only indicates which consciousness level.

Re your "Can we debate and tolerate when the point of debate is to find the truth, meaning some has to be wrong? "

Some good working examples can be found here.

Sep 10 2011: Hi Joshua, I am no longer sure that all men believe that they are right any more. I see, especially in business, a cynical sort of expediency. Right and wrong are often considered irrelevant. These people do not act from conviction but rather from a profit motive. I am not sure that a grand truth can emerge in such an environment.
