MUSIC is a HEALER.

I wander about in all kinds of TED conversations and I never hear music mentioned and that's a shame. To me it means a lot 'cause I've transformed through it. It never lets me down, it's always by my side, connects in a special way with other people. Don't get me wrong I'm not even a musician. But for me:

MUSIC is a HEALER.

Moreover it is a universal language that all people speak regardless of their background and education. So please bear with me and share a few thoughts:
1. What's music to you?
2. Do you have a particular favourite kind of music?
3. Share a special song or a performer/s that you love.

Closing Statement from Silvia Marinova

Now that this conversation has ended I feel saddened. :( As I shall no longer be able to share my passion with you but even this short one was worthwhile because I grew and learned with all the people who participated ... sometimes more, sometimes less. I want to take the time to thank everyone for the wonderful contributions.

I have a special message for Helena Ripoll Hazel, Salim Solaiman: you have made this journey a real pleasure and I'm more than glad to have conversed with you here. I can't miss the great contributions of Debra, Juliette, Amily as well as Jacob and Muhammad !

MY WORLD HAS BEEN ENRICHED! :)

Sep 10 2011: I really like this band called Sigur Rios they are from Iceland and most of their songs are sung in a made up language "Hopelandic" wich (according to the lead singer) uses the melodic and rhythmic elements of singing without the conceptual content of language. This song has actual lyrics though. I posted them after the youtube link. :)

Sep 10 2011: It really is so serene! The language is more than melodic (sounds even romantic). :) Thanks for the great input. BTW I'm always interested in the song's lyrics and I don't know how you guessed that but thanks again!

Sep 28 2011: I love Sigur Ros! I discovered them back in 2004 and I have been listening ever since. Their stuff is very ethereal. I like to put on the album entitled ( ) to drift off to sleep. If you like that kind of music, another wonderful band you need to check out that is somewhat similar is Yo La Tengo, start with the albums "I can hear the heart beating as one" and "And then nothing turned itself inside out." "Summer Sun" is a great album too. Here is a link to one of their songs, it's one of my favorites:

I love the gentle layering in this song, simplicity.
