Can the USA change as fast as the Middle East?

Can any politician bring about real green or environmental change? Or, are we doomed by big corp and oil to stay under thumb?

Feb 22 2011: In short. Yes. But you have to have the people united on something... and with a country with so many ideas flying about, that poses a challenge.

Feb 22 2011: I think THE INCENTIVE to change Americans would have to be based on the monetary greed factor integrating with how happy and free and blissful can life be... factor. Once people experience the orgasmic healthy well being of utopia with each and every breath ....everything would change immediately. Shifting our addictive behaviors of monetary based greed to the addiction of Ki Maah or dancing whole heartedly with each and every breath....would spontaneously redefine all systems and perspective of 'politics' and government.

Feb 22 2011: I think to make changes one needs incentives. For example, the incentive to regime change in the middle east might be the prospect of less suppression from the government and hence for more freedom for the people. It also might be the expectation to get rid of poverty and corruption.
What would be the incentive to change for Americans ?
