Where does the “fire in your belly” come from?

Somewhere, somehow, there’s something inside of us that gives us a boost of energy around various subjects, people, movements.

Where does the fire come from?
How did it start?
What keeps it going?
Why do we gravitate towards one thing versus another?

Feel free to share the fire in your belly. Who knows, it could start a bonfire.

Aug 31 2011: a war of minds. like every other spoilt brat i used to love war games, but one day i witnessed a mental tug-o'-war between two intellectuals and it is the most exhilarating thing i have ever seen or ever will. i've seen wars of words which are fun but a war of minds is amazing and it takes an enormous amount of skill to fight one.

of where certain "connection" points are relative to the 3 bodies ( more specific each bodies eteric double) This "belly" term is because it is "felt" inflow of etheric viality...by those turned to it (by traning or over stress) ....and has also become commonly named "Solar Plexus" although this is not the medically correct -term wise- for it (iow anatomically).

The early christian went into tthe area in great deatil for its 3 way connection BUT it is reducted down nicely to the Buddist picture diagram ....of a flower emanating out of the navel ( would make a great Hallmark card Toooo!!!)

by the Bye You are a brave new soul bringing this subject to a TED thread ...I assume this passion for "fire" is reflect in you possession of RED hair (perhaps??)

  Sep 1 2011: Now, that's interesting. Thanks for the background. It's a funny phrase and after someone asked me where the "fire in my belly" came from, it made me pause and realize I didn't really know. So, I turned to Tedsters to tap into the wealth of knowledge.
  
  And yes, it very well could be from the red hair. I haven't met a redhead yet that didn't have the fire.

Aug 31 2011: The twin terms, people and cultures really move me. Ever since I was a boy, pasting pictures in monthly books my Mom subscribed to about different countries of the world I knew. What keeps it going is: long years of experience in another culture; plans for moving and living and working and loving in other cultures; and a deep longing to experience what is up around the next bend. People and cultures make me sit up and listen, make me explore more, make me want to learn more.

Sitting down and eating at someone's table in another culture says it all.

  Aug 31 2011: Marcin - Personally, I'm motivated by finding solutions to problems and/or opportunities around things that bring goodness to the world. I relish when someone says it's not possible. I'm a believer that if you see a problem, frustration or something that could better the world, it's your duty to chase it. It lights my fire. I'm not really sure where this comes from and/or why this motivates me more than others. Thoughts? What motivates you?

    Aug 31 2011: I like to take action when I see how I can improve something - a material thing or a process. So when to think of it what drives me is my laziness that motivates me to find most efficient ways to get things done ;)
