What's the meaning of life?

I really want to see some of the better philosophies out there so that i may update my own :)

    Sep 1 2011: The meaning of life is to tackle problems, hurdles you are encountering everyday and in the future, and learn from everyday mistakes, one's laziness, accquire courage to understand, and determination to correct..live at the moment of NOW.

    Aug 29 2011: Life has no meaning. Humans are just another animal species with no meaning or purpose except reproduction.
    It sounds pessimistic but looking at it optimistically we can say that we need to actively find a purpose otherwise its all meaningless.

    Aug 29 2011: Who has not pondered this, I shall share what little I've come up with...

    The universe is circular, everything a cycle (though nothing known is endless), everything influencing everything else.
    Life is not, you can predict behaviour, but never guarantee it. Therefore the meaning of our life is chaos, in an otherwise structured universe, or, paraphrased, to try new things.

    Also 42... props ;)

    Aug 28 2011: What can living living entities perform that inanimate objects cannot. The one thing that comes to my mind is being alive entitles us to a level of perception. All life has some way of reacting to the world around it based on some observation of it. For a plant it might mean sensing the sun and following it. As for humans we have a much higher level of consciousness which enables to have a more complex dance through being. I think it was Carl Sagan who said we are made of the stuff of stars, we are the universe's way of knowing itself.

    Aug 26 2011: Life is "meant" to be enjoyed. This meaning wasn't given to you by nature or by god. It is a construct born in the hearts of all creatures... no matter how small their ambitions.

    If I were to ask an ant what it's meaning was, it would probably say... "I want to build tunnels."

    Aug 26 2011: Maybe the meaning of life is to find one's meaning of life. Some people need a God in order to find their meaning of life; others don't believe in god but believe in themselves and they simply think that because of their existence they have a meaning of life. In fact, nobody will be the same as them, physically and psycologically; it's enough to justify their life: i live because i exist and nobody will exist as i exist.

    it would be tO think of death every day so that we understand that life has no meaning. Only then we can control our desires, pride, ego and understand the true meaning of life. - From someone as confused as others

If you believe that there is a meaning you will find one !! the meaning of life is DIFFERENT for everyone, for me is just not having to worry about to discover the meaning of life,because once i find it what i'm gonna do with it? i would share it with others but it wont be their meaning of life, thats why i say is NOTHING. because the meaning of my life will be NOTHING for YOU but it will be EVERYTHING FOR ME!

    Aug 26 2011: Imagine I pour milk out on your bed. What does that mean?
    Does it mean I don't like you? You may say that?
    Does it mean I'm lactose intolerant?
    Who knows,
    but for sure It means your bed is wet and if you don't want a wet bed do something about it.

    That is sort of how I feel about life. So many people will look at it and give it some sort of meaning and argue about it. I think we're better off just noticing the way it is and washing our sheets before we go to bed.

    It's not a good answer, nor is it well thought out... but it works for me.
