Will we still call ourselves homo sapiens in 2100+?

With the rise of nanotechnology, genetic engineering, and the coming technological "singularity" will we still call ourselves in 2100+

Will we be less, human or beyond human as we see ourselves now?

Are we more human than our ancestors of 50,000+ years ago?

    Juan Enriquez makes a good point here for us becoming "homo evolutis" as Michelle already mentioned.

    'HUman Being' is a Being which is

    "conscious of consciousness" so they have used the term "homo sapien-sapien" for over fifty years now. That is not a play on words nor more scientific lingo ...just being true to the facts

      Aug 21 2011: The first time I readyour post I thought you might be a nutter, upon the second I understood it. Very interesting, maybe in 100 hudred years we will be called "homo post modernist sapiens". That WAS a play on words, doesn't mean it might not end up being true though, thanks for the insight.

    Aug 21 2011: Thank you for the great contribution I look forward to watching the documentary. I hadn't considered the toxicological changes to our species but will learn up on the subject and contemplate heavily on the implications.

    Aug 21 2011: I have seen the term homotoxicus used to describe us since we have so many toxins in our body even at birth. Please see the documentary by Carole Poliquin in her 2007 documentary. We have also been called Homo-evolutis since we now have the ability to create life from sythetic origins and have control over the geneticbiodiversity of nature. Juan Enriquez said at a Ted talk Homo-Evolutus "takes direct and deliberate control over the evolution of the species." Calling it the "ultimate reboot," he points to the conflux of DNA manipulation and therapy, tissue generation, and robotics as making this great leap possible.
    We are now also making hybrid animal / plant humans with biogenetic engineering mixing with humans with many creatures to harvest organs for transplantation. There are efforts to mix man and robot and create artificial intelligence that can really work for us. I realize this all sounds unbelievable but it is reported as true. I hope we arr able to keep the future under control in a postive direction since we are unleashing technologies and changes that may have negative consequences on the life existing on planet Earth. Please google wierd genetic experimentation and related topics to see what is going on. Science can be used to help mankind or to create stronger, undefeatable weapons of war and global control / domination. I hope we move toward peace on earth where we help all life on earth rather than destroy it. Either future is possible we have to chose our path wisely. Lets work together and create peace on Earth in a sustainable environment free of toxic pollution.
