What happened to fun?

Everyone has a set of "I have to's " in their mind. I have to be, pretty, I have to be masculine, I have to be an enterpreneur, I have to be slim, I have to be beautiful, I have to be rich, I have to be funny, I have to come up with the next big thing, I have to be a good parent, etc.

There's a big difference with "I reallly want to" and "I have to". There's something needy and stressful about "I have to". It's the disease of our time. When I will achieve this...then I will be happy. And it's not just in business, it's in everything.

You could say it's human nature, to want to evolve and change and be better. But are we really going for better? Or just more and more and different?

Don't we forget to enjoy our life and enjoy the process? What happened to fun, playfulness, humor? When did we lose our inner child - where learning is playing, and vice versa?

Aug 14 2011: Nothing happened to FUN.
FUN never went to someone and never will go to someone and say , 'here I am for you , so have FUN".
Rather it's other way , one have to (again have to ) find out reason to make FUN.
Otherwise FUN will be at the GUN point of all others "have tos" as you mentioned .................................

Aug 13 2011: Clearly I 'have to' have fun. I've been told I need to go find my inner adult - or at least my inner babysitter.

(I still maintain that most people don't even know what makes them happy and are just substituting what they perceive others pursuing as something that will.)
  • Aug 13 2011: If some forms of fun originate from discretionary money and toys, then fun was outsourced to India and China.

Places like the United States got lead paint back.

Aug 13 2011: I've said conversation is enjoyable when there are no agendas. Probably the same holds true for fun.

Aug 12 2011: are you sure about that? or it is just a feeling?

Aug 13 2011: I think feelings are the expression of our belief system. Why do you call feeling (emotion) "Just a feeling" ? Wanna talk about it ?

Aug 14 2011: not everything is just a feeling. there are things backed up by careful and through examination. it is a tendency to feel the demise of mankind, for example. similar "feelings" include: language is deteriorating, people are less happy today, our ancestors lived in harmony with nature, etc etc. these are factually wrong, but we somehow feel so. that's why it is important to ask ourselves: people seem to have less fun or actually have less fun today? maybe it is just another false feeling.

Aug 14 2011: HI Krisztian.....Well, I don't know of any study that draws any conclusions about the state of our society............so much corruption, collusion, crime. I llive in America and I really don't know much about Budapest. I hope it is better there. I know that some people like to complain about everything when actually things are not worse...they are just different.
