If you could be anywhere in the world where would that be and perhaps why? :)

Everyone wants different things at different times!
Have you ever seen a falling star?
Have you ever made a wish on it?
So what's your wish and where can the meteors of the Perseids take you in a few days time?

  • Aug 19 2011: Someplace old, where no one else has been for a long long time.
    • Aug 20 2011: You should try the Canadian Rockies. I have been to places that you can only get to by helicopter and its a three day walk out. The only people you might see is an Outward Bound group or the Forest Service flying over making sure you don't make a mess.
      • Aug 20 2011: I think more of a human place, a temple or catacombs hidden forgotten, a place where history was made but never put on record. My dad was telling me about these tunnels under Jerusalem which no one is allowed too explore. Or maybe a cave where our species first learned to be something more...
        • Aug 20 2011: Yean...well...I've been around our species and really I prefer not to be around our species

Aug 21 2011: Hi, Joe. :) I can only say that I've just been there ... Jeravna, Bulgaria; There's a festival of national costumes going on for 3 days in this old town and no one is allowed to wear anything but authentic national clothes of any country! It's pretty colorful, fun and interesting to be around. :) But there are too many people, of course. :)
      • Aug 21 2011: Wow that sounds like a ton of fun, and a very uniqe experience!
        • thumb
Aug 21 2011: Yeah and much more than that! A lot of singing, dancing and foresaken, old traditions come to life!

Aug 18 2011: I would like to visit Bavaria, the land of my ancestors. I would backpack from the Rhineland to the Borderlands of Eastern Europe. I would then learn how divine the land really is, and how blessed I am to be part of the culture.
    • thumb
Aug 19 2011: I'm gonna do just that this upcoming weekend! But the land of my ancestors is in the vast Bulgarian mountain! :)
      • thumb
Aug 22 2011: My goodness! That truly is an amazing thing to do. To become in touch with nature, your roots, yourself, and in return; THE WORLD! Have an amazing time. Maybe you could share your experience in another post?

Aug 18 2011: I want to go to the US or Europe to study English. For there are many people who can speak English very well, and I am the focus in the meeting where many others laughing at me for my bad speaking.
    • thumb
Aug 18 2011: By reading your passage here, I would say you are not far from it. You've grasped the language very well. Keep up the good work and studying. English is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and you are doing very well.
    • thumb
Aug 19 2011: Truly great idea! I think you're on the right track as Joseph says here so keep up the good work. :)

Aug 17 2011: I always wanted to be with Nature, some island where there is nothing but a great harmony and love between the living and non living. Sharing the same space with great respect to each other and creating a better place to live. A place where there is no limit to my vision, no dead ends to my walk and no time to grow me old.. just a life of peace and togetherness....

Aug 15 2011: TEDglobal 2011, the penultimate idea exchange
Would love a month long to meet everyone ,explore new ideas and relationships,
Would send alter ego to CERN to get lowdown on the Higgs for obvious reasons
  • Aug 15 2011: I would like to be in the state of mind that seeks to enjoy and appreciate what I have and not always "need" what I lack. Too often, I find we romanticize and even covet things that are unnecessary for real happiness. Places that are special always seem linked to the relationships that I have been able to form while there - which truly makes the setting special. Thanks for a great question. Now I will ponder the wonderful places, adventures and friendships that I have been fortunate to experience.

Aug 14 2011: I try to live in the moment and as such I can generally find virtue wherever I am. But there are some places that are especially awe inspiring and beautiful. I have really loved Glacier National Park, Antigua Guatemala, Machu Picchu, Gold Bug Hot Springs -Idaho and my favorite place ever...my grandparents kitchen table.
The next adventure I would like to go on is here: http://hubski.com/pub?id=2680

As an aside, if any of you are looking for a place to share interesting information in a thoughtful environment, check out Hubski: http://hubski.com/about

Thanks for the topic, it was nice remembering past adventures. I hope you are all right where you want to be!

    • thumb
Aug 11 2011: As a farang I spent my honeymoon in Koh Samui - Thailand. That place is a real diamond. Btw a tinier island called koh nan yuang is even better. You can take boat trips to there from koh Samui.
  • Aug 10 2011: Love to see the northen lights in person, but also to be somewhere that would put me in the right place at the right time in order for me to make a difference.

    • thumb

  • Aug 10 2011: I will spend some of my time in place where I could help some vulnerable citizens of the earth.

On vacations, I will go to places beautiful enough like Sofia's tulips season. Further, different places have different things to explore.
    • thumb
Aug 10 2011: Never heard of Sofia's tulip season? Can you tell me more about that? I live in Sofia, Bulgaria and never heard of this actually. Come to think of it I must have missed something along the way. :)
      • Aug 11 2011: I had an official visit to Sofia in 2005, It was April or early spring. Naturally grown some tulips were appearing in beside footpaths and streets within the city. (Not so many, but few).

You have got a beautiful country.
        • thumb
Aug 11 2011: That's so nice to hear. :) You should definitely come again and check out the countryside, too.

Aug 21 2011: I am content being here now.
Why? Because my contentment grows from being fully present in the moment:>)

Aug 21 2011: I can only hope more people will feel like you in the future. :)
      • thumb
Aug 21 2011: The future is "NOW" being created:>)

        Are we NOW HERE...or NOWHERE?
        • thumb
          Aug 21 2011: Dear Colleen,
You amaze me more and more! :D I guess more people should be NOW HERE or they're just being NOWHERE! :)
      • thumb
        Aug 21 2011: LOL!
It is always a choice in each and every moment:>)

You have asked a very interesting question Silvia...
You are right, that people often prefer to be someplace different...doing something different...with somebody different...etc.

The thing is, when we spend our time and energy on those thoughts, then we miss the here and now. It's not a bad thing...just a choice in every moment:>)
        • thumb
Aug 21 2011: Indeed how true that is!!! Thanks again for joining us. :)

If were are talking about a place outside the earth, I would love to be in the stars, almost like beeing a star, so that I can look at all the beauty of it !

    Cheers !

Aug 19 2011: New York City. I am a poet, and I was in New York last summer. An experience I found to be inspiring and energizing. It was amazing to see for a small town kid like myself. It's an amazing place to write and I hope, after this last year of high school, live.
  • Aug 17 2011: Carmello, Uruguay. A cross between Tuscany and Provence. On stressful days I close my eyes and take an armchair trip to Carmello. Funny how some places we visit stick inside of our bones forever.

Aug 17 2011: If I would go to a place it would be Dubai or UAE in general. Its a very clean, peaceful and modern place. My dream is to live and work there.

Aug 17 2011: Wherever I am is great! I have lived in a few countries and visited quite a few for shorter periods. All places being varied and unique in characteristics, some truly beautiful and some quite scary, some extremely busy and some eerily abandoned. But all interesting. I do have a preference for the serenity of nature and rural areas.
    • thumb
Aug 17 2011: Rural is how I'd describe my ultimate destination, neither exotic nor interesting - just rural! A great reminder! :)
  • Aug 17 2011: I would be in Istanbul, Turkey. Because I do not want to see racist people in earth anymore, and i can not take it. Where has the atmosphere like peace and love, i would like to be there. Greetings from Australia.
    • thumb
Aug 17 2011: I believed in the notion that Australia was quite racially tolerant. Anyway, Istanbul is where East meets West so it's a great place for international people! Thanks for the greetings. :)
      • Aug 20 2011: Thanks Silvia what you said is exactly true. and Also thanks for such a good question.

      • Aug 20 2011: Kate, I strongly believe you are from Australia. I love everyone in here, even i have appointment with Aussie family on sunday, which we just know each other from Qantas airplane to Singapore and then to Istanbul. Now we would like to meet. What im saying about the racism is, "some: university students in here, they are so mean with Asians. That makes me sad. Even in library people slanging match through the desk writing. Im trying to do everything to stop it, Even im erasing some, im doing my best as an Eurasian, i dont have problem with them. I havent seen bad things from them, but as I said they are mean to "them" and Thanks for your kindest behave. Hope you are doing up there very well.

Aug 17 2011: There are many places I've been but I'm not sure that's as relevant as the RELATIONSHIP between me and the place(s). Magical moments required a lot of me. The way I was at those 'special times' was as important as the place surrounding me.

I guess it's the difference between going to the wedding of a friend of a friend and eating too much at the reception versus one's own wedding day.... Still, being married in a tawdry Vegas wedding chapel in front of an image of Elvis would certainly not be conducive to creating a magical moment (at least for me).

Those who have narrowly escaped death know that just seeing a high tension power line outside one's window with the sound of crows cawing can be incredible .... since one is simply and powerfully STILL ALIVE.
    • thumb
Aug 17 2011: The relationship with the place is definitely very important. For example, I consider my place to be the mountain but still it's up to one's choice and feeling where to go and what to do! Thanks for the good point there - it's important just to be in the moment and to have fun living!
  • Aug 17 2011: i would like to live like malcolm forbes. in a yatch. to be anywhere where iit's necessary or pleasureable.
