On November 1st 2011( DATE CHANGE 12-12-12) we all stop buying cars from the auto manufactures and new car dealers. Date for action changed

My Idea will bring to the market what we all have been asking for: A low priced non-fossil fuel auto from the manufacturers. We don't need a $40,000 car that goes 120 miles and then takes 10 hours to charge. We need more and we need it now. I see no help from the auto manufacturing industry as they have no motivation. When every body pulls together and decides to just stop buying new cars a change will happen for sure.

Jul 28 2011: How about an electric car that has a special battery that can be pulled out and replaced with a freshly charged one. Then, there would be no 10 hr waits. The battery would have a recharge counter, so the remaining life is known, and cost adjustments made ( if the battery you leave has more life left than the one they give you, the recharge station would give you $, or vice versa).

Jul 28 2011: I understand your frustration, but your idea would never happen. Reality gets in the way.

But we are moving slowly steadily towards more viable alternatives to fossil-fueled cars.

I believe the US major auto manufacturers have signed on to make cars that get a minimum of 55 miles/gal. think that by 2050 fossil fuel cars will be antiquated. Give the market some time and it will do it.

    Jul 30 2011: You just never know where your creative energy might lead you.... Have you been in touch with Sebastian and Shai? Is your concept too early-on in it's development to contact them? In any event, you might want to reach out to them and ask to be involved in their efforts.
    I still want to look at what you are proposing and how it differs from and fits into what they both are talking about. I think once you can get that properly thought out you will know in which direction to go.

Jul 27 2011: I know if we all stop buying new cars manufacture will supply what we are asking for. I know it is a major task to get the word out and for people to act. However, along with the NO BUY 11-11-11 we43 ad any company who refuses to co-operate will also be on the NO BUY list. The idea of we as consumers demanding a change in the auto industry has always been blocked by oil and gas industry. Even our government is in on the deal. That is why only we as consumers can make the change.

Jul 27 2011: Very intelligent and workable idea, Randy. It would not be any kind of sabotaging if consumers just ignore brainless production. No fights, discussions, public speeches and "analyses" are needed. It is up to us, consumers, what to buy and what to ignore - because the manufacturers are to SERVE markets, not to manipulate them. These are lessons we should learn in elementary schools.

Markets really BELONG to the Consumers -- not to any manipulating manufacturers, or wall street or investors. It is consumers' fully legal and ethical RIGHT to dictate market's demand.

It may be looked as a great idea but we need to think of many aspects like how to solve the problem, what other initiatives can we use, and how do we tackle this this idea so that it could be accepted by everyone. But most importantly, how are we going to achieve that idea in a very short amount of time?

    Jul 27 2011: Rather than stop buying it, why don;t we try to directly give suggestion to the sellers since it is quite a problem to achieve it in a short amount of time because this kind of campaign needs a lot of money and work to be done. However, if the length of time is increased, i believe that your idea is definitely achievable. :)
