LLEARN - The Lifelong Learning Exchange: For Its Advancement, Research, and News

Reading the comments here makes it clear there are many people with exceptional backgrounds and profound expertise who have strong ideas on how to improve the educational landscape. Being a long-time fan of TED and all it’s done, I have the greatest respect for its community. As a result, it's time for me to advance an idea that I've been focused on for many years. My immediate goal is to start a viral wave of support that is aligned with education reform. The ultimate goal is a completely integrated learning ecosystem and a U-S citizenship committed to lifelong learning.

Aug 5 2011: Mr. Polak, your idea is great way to organize our learnings and the gist of our learnings like TED talks or wikipedia. I was thinking also of portal that can take the learning level or condition of an individual and from that point progress to a desired learning objective.

I don't know if it's too simplicstic but my thinking about education (and sometimes about any other idea) is from our two broad definition of our human faculty or capacity - the power of our hearts and minds and the principle that always come to my mind is "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care".

There seems to be a requisite bond of thinking and caring in order for a true excellence to be achieved. That the state of our excellent minds or skills can be greatly impacted by the state of our hearts - our values, our moral principles or the great expression of our intrinsic powers to love, hope and trust and enjoy the strength of our principles of freedom, justice and truth.
