Memes and Music.

I have spent some time thinking about music in a cultural sense, and have recently discovered memetics. It has made me see the activity of music in quite a different way; memes being the driving force in artists, music genres being successful memes (their rate of evolution being quite incredible), 'hereditary' music tastes, (in relation to Elisabeth Glibert's talk) the similarities/differences to the 'daemon' or 'genius', among other things. Does anyone have any input? I would love to discuss this with the TED community.

        Jul 30 2011: Okay Adam, how about memes and music as an expression of our universal nature and power to care, hope and trust, an expression that is sometimes best delivered in music or art more than words can, unbouded by the freedom of our hearts and minds.

        When the expression expands further into our relationships, the power of the memes and the tone of the music vibrates with ideas of freedom, justice and truth at the same time beautifully adorned with the ideas of love, hope and trust.
