What Challenges have you Conquered?

Please share a challenge you conquered to contribute to world peace, self growth, spreading new ideas, helping a neighbour, etc. We have all done various things throughout our life, please share a few of yours to INSPIRE others?

How have you contributed to changing your world one drop at a time?

From personal fears, limitations, illness, etc to family, community and global issues. It is something that we already do on many levels eg being a good child/parent, kind friend, diligent worker, etc

Jul 21 2011: One of mine is confronting my fears head on. Sure I know they are irrational but they were deep and it took years. Maybe more will arise but I now know that I can conquer them!

Don't let fear intimidate you, it certainly ruled my life for years.

Jul 17 2011: For me it is better to be spelled out by others who knows me.Saying what I conquered seems like "Beating Own Drum". Sorry I am not in to that.

Jul 18 2011: Salim I do know you are not that kind of person just from reading your comments! But have you seen some of the conversations here? I am trying to bring a more healthier more positive note. And my feeling is that 'inspiration' by hearing what others have done could help a lot here?

If you don't wish to share I do understand but the request is to encourage others to tackle their personal issues, then lolly [little] steps to helping the world. Many these days seem overwhelmed and my idea is to encourage by examples

Jul 18 2011: Good day Kate.
I re read my post now, after reading your response. I found my post is a hard one , which may sound rude to you , sorry for that if it really sounded rude to you.

Understand your intension , so sharing a couple of them
First when I got admitted to my unversity , everyone around me was telling that the subject I got admitted is not a good subject ,has no future etc etc (in my country system studying = possiblity of getting good job). More they were telling that more I was getting determined I will do something and finally succeeded. Then I saw the voice around me changed....
I got a job even before I finished my Masters, again started hearing the job I joined is worthless , it may give some money but no recognition (in country best jobs are govt. bureacratic job as the have honour , power & opportunity of making fortune and you know the way of doing that). Family freinds were telling me I was good enough to get those shiny jobs which I percieved as the major root of corruption and making people's life miserable. So again my stubornness came up so I sticked to that job, now all consider I really did good...!!

Wish this is what you wanted to hear (do I sound to be stuborn from what I described ?) :)

Jul 18 2011: No you could never sound rude Salim, but you do sound stubborn! And I totally applaud you're avoidance of those bureacratic jobs that feed corruption and ruin other's lives. Sadly I see it all too often here

Yes, these are the type of 'challenges' I was hoping for .. to continue on your path despite others opinions. To stay true to your own values - well done! And I feel it holds more weight coming from someone like yourself, thanks for re-considering.

Jul 18 2011: Hi Kate , thanks for your straight feedback on my stubbornness. Well was not that necessary for me in those cases ? What do you think ?

Well that's my next challenge now to overcome, so that I become less stubborn :)
        • thumb
Jul 18 2011: Salim, I did not mean it in that way at all - did mean that you needed it to get where you are!

Do not see being stubborn as an unhealthy thing, it is often a strength to help us through such challenges. I am also stubborn, and I do not see it as a characteristic I wish to overcome ... just try to be humble when my stubbornness causes grief. I tend to think of it as persistence.

Jul 18 2011: Kate, was just kiddig, I know what you meant.

You know whenever I tried to get rid of my that characteristic stubbornness (would rather say strictness) found, I am not up to the my ownself. So like you trying to be humble ,when I am stirct about the principle which found need to be in place.

Lot of time I saw how spineless people become just for their own benefit or to just save self from trouble ..... I don't want to be such spineless though not sure whether really have any strong spine !!!

That's good , we two sharing same kind of trait, talking about that ...... :)
