Why shouldn't we be selective?

In that 'rap, hiphop' sounding video that Nalini presented, the rapper said, "Stop beng so selective, and expand your perspective".
It said something along those lines. I was interested in this because I want to gather as much mental evidence as possible that we should never be so selective because there's always things you won't expect to see (that will benefit/relate to you), in the things that you will want to just 'push away'.
So.... why shouldn't we be so selective in terms of what we do in this world?

Jul 15 2011: Being selective invites many obstacles in the way of life that is towards us. I elucidate this issue by an example for you.

Most of us are too fastidious to choose our life partner. We would like to have all characteristics of an angel!! in one

person. We want the beauty, wealth, good virues and other features that everybody appreciate while we do not

consider that we are just making life so cumbersome for ourselves.

Yes. I stand corrected. We should broaden our life perspectives and stop being so selective and fastidious.
