Similar idea as proposed by Shawn Acor in his book Happiness Before Success

In the book Happiness Before Success (Shawn Acor), the author promotes positive psychology and how it leads to higher overall productivity. He has given talks at Google and no doubt Tan identifies with this. In my own experience in a Bank Commercial Mortgage Department, we had higher productivity and job satisfaction, than we now have under new management. Now morale is low, we work longer hours consistently and there is less of a sense of teamwork. Instead of a team (although we are referred to as Team Members), we are individuals working on our own. Instead of a manager with compassion, which we previously had, we have a manager who basically lacks compassion and is only interested in the numbers and not the people. Working harder and longer is not necessarily the formula for high productivity and high quality work. Working happier is a formula which will produce higher productivity, quality and employees will work as hard and late as necessary to achieve their goals.
