What comes to your mind when you hear the word INDIA?

There has always been an interesting mix of answers when it comes to describing India. Some see it as beautiful, vibrant country, where people are very hospitable and some have very hostile views. My intention is to get first few lines from TED members, which come instantly in their minds, no matter if it’s negative or positive. Opinions can be experienced ones as well as how you have perceived it by external views without experiencing it.

Jul 5 2011: Nicely put Joe, though I, along with many more fellow Indians, feel that our constitutional system needs a complete reform to bring all the freedom, justice and truth you discussed.

Jul 5 2011: I'm not familiar with your constitution but if you think you need to reform it to make the principles work then that might be the right path.

Consider also the power of our information infrastructure today. Our information and social network can help our transparencies and accountabilities.

Jul 6 2011: When I consider power of IT today, I find it that it may take next 3-4 decades to reach common masses which constitutes 70% of Indian population, and utilizing its full potential is still a distant dream for us. Corruption is biggest issue at the moment, and you may hear Libya's kind of revolution in coming months. Well I feel everything happens for the good.

Jul 6 2011: Vivek, maybe all we need is to reach a crtical mass of leaders that can help guide our political representatives. Gandhi was able to unite people and with our current technology maybe all we need is few Gandhi-like people that are ready to take the challenge to make India a greater nation.

Jul 6 2011: If you are aware of current happenings,we are going through the same phase. People are using IT platform to spread awareness and leaders like Gandhi also evolving. What you have written, is exactly what people and some ethical leaders are following. That should be a great sign. I look forward to the brighter future of my country.

Jul 6 2011: As I have seen people assisting US people around me, even I can not understand them with their fake accent, How will you.. ? That was on a lighter note, People here are trained well to provide required assistance, its just, most people loose their interest in the process of assisting, which results in degraded performance.
