Good News!

Please share a ‘good’ story, humorous situation or heartening news? Give a positive spin to personal, community or global situations.

Or tell a clean fun joke?

Is it possible to integrate ‘good’ news stories into our current sensational news reports?

Closing Statement from Kate Blake

Thanks Travis and Joe for joining me!

Sad that we all struggle to think of any Good News, have we been brainwashed into wanting heart-wrenching tragic news? My heart goes out to those poor reporters who must swamp themselves with wars, accidents, violence, etc just to be read ... for surely their families and social life suffer. Not to mention that PTSD would be a professional hazard also!

The website suggestion that followed this seems to have met with a similar fate ...

Jul 7 2011: Quite a few years ago, I was having a not so good day, I am sure most people could sense it just from the way I was carrying myself. I work in a hospital, and your attitude going into a patient's room, I feel, is key to maintaining an environment in which to heal. I walked into a room with with so much negativity that the patient stopped me before I could say anything. She said "I have something for you" and went through her dresser and handed me an aluminum token. She told me that life is too short to waste on being angry or upset. The token had a small inscription saying "Think of how much you can influence another persons life". The patient had a terminal illness and died a few weeks later. That one day, so many years ago changed my life. I make it a personal goal every morning to make as many people enjoy their lives as possible, so that she not only impacted my life but over the years, hundreds to thousands. Life is WAY to short to live fighting with yourself or others. I really appreciate your attempt at bringing a positive attitude to the world Kate!

Jul 8 2011: Thanks for sharing, that is a very powerful and moving story Travis!

The terminally ill are great motivators ... all the games stop as we near our end, allowing our true qualities to emerge. And you were the wise one to listen, well done.
