Bring the TED spark to your workplace to foster innovative thinking. Create a TED@[work] network (much along the line of the TEDx Events).

I woke up this morning with this bold idea: bring TED into my workplace. Harness the energy and ocean of inspiration each TED Talk generates in me, and most of the TED enthousiasts I have met to date.

My current view: setup a TED@[work] network ([work] being your organization name or acronym; consider adding x[location] for mullti-city/international organizations...) and gather a few colleagues once a month around lunch time.

The plot: show a TED Talk video (up to 20 min), debate the topic (10-20 min) and agree ONE thing you will implement as a group (10-20 min). Let the magic happen... give the idea some space to grow... let people try new ideas at work.

  • Jul 9 2011: I love this idea and the mix of the video communication (Hans) will no doubt add to the effectiveness as per Chris Andersons TEDGlobal 2010 presentation and Salman Khans "Khan Academy" (TED 2011).

    I'm keen to see how this develops and will enthusiastically be reviewing your listed Conversation.

  • Jul 4 2011: Why not creating your own TED Talk video about a great idea or good practice for your work space and put that at the work intranet or show that to co-workers and discuss about it?
    • Jul 5 2011: Hans, thank you for contributing. That is actually an excellent idea! I will definitely keep that one at the back of my mind. A "TEDTalk-like" video of a few minutes, crafted to showcase a great idea or practice may indeed go a long way. My preference would be to showcase outcomes of TED@[work] sessions, to inspire other to replicate the idea, stand up and make change happen at their location.     • Jun 30 2011: Thank you for the reference. I understand Peter Senge's definition of a Learning Organization (from his book, 'The Fifth Discipline') is:
      "…organizations where people continually expand their capacity to create the results they truly desire, where new and expansive patterns of thinking are nurtured, where collective aspiration is set free, and where people are continually learning to see the whole together."
      So back to your comment... it is indeed spot on, only TED-ignited.
