Beauty or Empathy?
The use of Botox and similar "beauty enhancing" muscle paralyzers are widely used, but are the users aware of the now documented side effect of reduced empathy and emotional comprehension? Are they making a decision of beauty over empathy, or are they simply unaware of the consequences?
Wray Herbert reports of new evidence that suggests that Botox may harm not only the expression of emotion, but also its comprehension. The facial paralysis that removes unwanted frown lines can also reduce ones ability to process emotional language. Is beauty worth it? Isn't the comprehension and display of emotions through your facial expressions more important than good looks?
