What is your definition of joy? And what do you do to gain it?
Joy, happiness, peace. 3 things everyone in the world is searching for. Someone must have found them.

As for joy: it is what you get when doing something (Aristotelian approach): joy accompanies an act.
So you do things you think are useful or rewarding.
I think social situations are among the best things that can give joy: eating with friends and family, hanging out with friends, spending time with the people you care about,...
Other than that, altruism tend to give people joy as well.
But reading a book or sports or play can provide joy as well.
