Can sound create matter

In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God.
`Bible

It is said in the Bhagwad Gita and in the Bible that the word or the sound (AUM/ AMEN/ AMEEN) was the pranava or the primary point from where everything had come up and evolved to this stage... probably everything that we see. I know what I am talking may not be scientific. But could it be true that it was due to the vibration/ the sound AUM/AMEN/AMEEN that everything I, you, we all have seen, and could not/ would ever not see had come out..

I hope Cymatics can help us find answers..

    Jun 21 2011: "Oh yeah..thought I rememberd that right...
    .this from wikipedia

"In 1989 a major experimental advance was introduced by Felipe Gaitan and Lawrence Crum, who produced stable single-bubble sonoluminescence (SBSL). In SBSL, a single bubble trapped in an acoustic standing wave, emits a pulse of light with each compression of the bubble within the standing wave. This technique allowed a more systematic study of the phenomenon, because it isolated the complex effects into one stable, predictable bubble. It was realized that the temperature inside the bubble was hot enough to melt steel. Interest in sonoluminescence was renewed when an inner temperature of such a bubble well above one million kelvins was postulated"

so looks like we are on good ground by modifying our statement to say "sound, via sonoluminscence "can produce matter

    .way cool

the neat thing about the light in the bubbles...looks life cold fusion..nuclear fusion the golden fleece...so maybe a few hundred musiicians around a big tank of wtaer could produce enough electricity to light the whole country..and make new particles as a by product..why not?"

Jun 21 2011: Oh Yes, here is the link on science creating particles from odrinary light:

    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/1997/09/970918045841.htm

so we can double check our data on sonoluminescnce..but I am pretty sure that is straight forward..sound converts to light

    so there we have it

sound can emanate matter( But lets double check the sonololuminescence thing)

Jun 21 2011: I love cymatics and have been trying to design a simple system to demonstrate it for school children.

.it's amazingthat a particular frequency always produces the exact same physical pattern..and you probably know NASA is experimenting with acoustical levitaion ( so far they have only lisfted a tiny ball in a vacuum)

I am no scientist ( a science junkie but no scientist).. I believe it has been demonstrated that matter can eminate from light and that sound can become light(sonoluminescence)..so by reason..indirectly via sonoluminescence I guess that would mean sound can create matter, no?

We could do some further checking and bring what we find here.

Jun 18 2011: This a terrific example of the problems of dealing with a translation. The original Greek uses the word "logos" which is then translated to "word" so you get "in the beginning was the word." But the Greek word logos has many interrelated meanings. It can mean speech, logic, proportion, reason and several others ideas. You won't get very far with this passage, over which barrels of ink have been spilled, without taking the time to understand the original and the context in which it was written. For John's Greek audience the word logos was filled with meaning and had already accrued a lot of philosophical baggage. It's a really interesting passage, but I think you'd do well to start with the existing exegesis before you start using it to revise physics.

Jun 22 2011: But the word was a vibration "ohmmmm" a sound which through sonoluminescence could produce light in the form of nuclear fusion.....big bang?
  • Jun 18 2011: Yes of course

what else could be meant by "in the beginning was the 'Word' '" but that Word/ sound/ consciousness/ is an emanation of source the manifestation of 'form' (...including, so called, "matter" and "space")

that well know quote is COMPLETELY distorted, to the point of benign, by some religions ( lets just not say which ones)

If You have access to 'Scientific America' April 2011, Steinhart's Case for / Case against 'Inflation' there in, specifically page 39 there is (notmentioned but THERE) Atman.

Jun 22 2011: Ed could you tell us whatthe scientific american article says in brief? (or provide a link?)
      • Jun 22 2011: Hi Lindsay

The content is straight forward enough but doesn't lend itself well to a TED conversation ...so i point and if it still available for free just go the the scam site. Or if one is near a library just ask for it there.

In the briefest of brief this is an overview of consciousness before it manifests in lower form(s) to often the the Big Bang is intellectually interrupted as some big event but as the article address ..form ...in itself CURRENT "observable" range is nothing BUt a tiny ripple within an enormously greater realm NOT yet detectable by an observer with its self imposed limits
