Space Exploration really Needed?

The United States federal government should substantially increase its exploration and/or development of space beyond the Earth’s mesosphere.

Is space exploratioin really needed? Or will it benefit our society later in the future? Why or why not?

    Jun 13 2011: Well not many things today are fantastic for our economy, but the money spent should be put onto knowledgable projects such as space exploration. This advancement could do wonders for our country, not only educational but also make us prosperous. Innovation is what we need to get us out of economic problems..

    The govenment can only fund so much and for poverty I dont think should be a high prority because many Americans abuse the use of those services..
