What if we told every child on the planet, every single day the phrase: "I Believe In You". In 20 years, what kind of society would we be?

I no longer believe that the planet is round. I propose that we are a compassionate shape, a heart shaped world. The more we think and believe in this compassionate world, the more possible it becomes. But a great deal of people must believe in it for us to actualize as a society. If enough people would connect and share the same perception of hope and desire, anything and everything is possible. So how do we begin you may be asking? Let's start with one simple word: INTEGRITY - Each person has to make a personal commitment to themselves. We can not make an impact on the world until we make a positive impact on our own lives. Once we master our own issues as people, we can then serve mankind as the prime movers for global healing. Address the shadows that lurk in your reflection and clarify your existence for yourself and no one else. You are the captain of your ship. No one can make the change except you. Daily prayer, meditaion, auto suggestion, self encouragement can help you choose the right daily ACTION that must transpire for you to become a better person. After enough time and effort, you will become the "Leader" to the person in the mirror and to others. With the right amount of persistence, you can achieve the impossible once you believe in the dream and commit to your self.

    Jun 10 2011: I think the biggest change would come if we taught kids to tell *themselves* those things. I've found that doing a series of daily affirmations really has an impact on my world view and view of myself. The simple act of giving focus to positive outcomes is a surprisingly powerful tool. It would be hugely beneficial to teach this to kids - this should be a life skill that everyone has! And to answer your question, the world that could be created in 20 years of children practicing these skills would be something rather beautiful, I suspect.

    Jun 10 2011: My niece was told on a regular basis that she was special, that her family believed in her and she could do whatever she wanted, but she was meant for something big. Last week, she graduated with her PharmD. Would she have done that if she hadn't been told daily that she was special? Maybe. But I believe that it truly inspired her in some way to reach for more. I know if I had been told that while growing up, it may have given me that little extra push and I might be doing something different. (Maybe it's time for me to start now)

        Jun 13 2011: I've already put the wheels in motion - always wanted to do the Oxford University program (used to be available through Smithsonian travel) - 2 weeks at Oxford taking a course. I've started saving the money so I can do this for my 60th birthday (4 years from now). Yes, it will take me that long to save up!

          Jun 14 2011: Deborah, my mom just turned 60 and is finally beginning to fulfill some of her long held dreams. She felt for 40 years that it was her primary responsibility to help her kids achieve great things and that her time had come and gone. After much encouragement and getting her the tools she needed she is moving forward.     The world would be a better place - I have seen first hand the transformation in children when you tell them you believe in them - it works with us all.
    Even though we've never met, somedays seeing your facebook messages have changed my outlook for the day - I thank you for that.
    Please don't stop - keep pushing us all - we need the encouragement - its working!!!!

    Jun 9 2011: If instead of giving into fear and insecurity, but being brave enough to believe in your own worth and the worth of those around you, this world would be the compassionate heart shaped world we as humans with spirits and hearts dream of. If one child could look in the mirror and say, "I believe in you!" and then look to their brother and say that too - we could save lives. That smile from a stranger, the encouragement and love from a friend, the phrase, "I believe in you" whispered on the day of your child's birth or murmured as you leave this world - that is a gift directly to your soul. We all need that acceptance, love, and encouragement. We need that recognition of the divine in ourselves and each other, to know that we aspire to be more than just flesh. And as a human race that we aspire to love each other. We fool ourselves with anonymity, with capitalistic greed, with ignorance of our brother's suffering and poverty. Achieving integrity and alignment with our true heart to love our brothers and sisters is ambitious and a worthy goal. Joe, I hope with your message, your vision, with your voice that you one day will reach the hearts of so many people that when we do look at the shape of the world again, we see a heart.

    Jun 9 2011: It takes someone with a strong vision to make changes in the world as we have seen by other leaders before us. This is one of those situations that it's not a matter of should we or could we, it's not even a matter of trying. It is something of a responsibility of humanity that has not yet caught fire and I believe the world is now crying for it. If we want to see changes in the world then we must be willing to BE that change in the world. Always follow your heart and intuition, no matter how difficult something may look, the world needs people that are willing to step outside of the usual boundaries and make a difference. I back you 100% and then some! I BELIEVE IN YOU, Joe!!
