Should anyone have authority over your life? Should you be accountable to anyone and if so why?

Jun 1 2011: This is a pretty profound question so I will share from my heart what I taught my kids.

I don't care who tells you to do the right thing- even if its the smallest kid - you do what you believe to be the right thing and I don't care who tells you to do the wrong thing even if it is the President of the United States- if you know its wrong don't do it. (the weird thing is we are Canadian- but that's the way I always said it!)

As a young mother I wanted to equip them to deal with 'Milgard experimen't circumstances of life.

So my answer is that your own conscience has the highest authority.

    Jun 1 2011: A very good question.
You have authority and responsibility (2 good words) only to yourself.
Like any other aspect of your life, you might CHOOSE to out-source elements to other people, but this needs to be conscious and deliberate devision of free will.... not something imposed on you.
We contract (sort of) to live under the rule of law, and a degree of order and protection.
