What kind of power can a film have?

Can a film help to make the world a better place and change peoples attiudes? What should such films contain?

    Jun 15 2011: Films have a tremendous impact on individuals whether people are aware of it or not. Filmmakers (who are primarily male btw) need to keep in mind the impact their movies might have on people. For example: depicting more ethnic people are committing crimes versus White people. Be more analytical when you're watching films, because there is always an underlying meaning, and it is oftentimes oppressive toward a minority group... Food for thought.

      Jun 16 2011: A great example of this is in Scream 2 the movie where they actually debate about the same topic on how the movies (stab 2) influenced the murders that were occurring in the movie. (stab 2 a movie with in a movie) Of course its fictional. but its still a good topic to talk about
