Is Chris Anderson the antithesis of Julian Assange? Or do they share similar visions for connecting people to information worth knowing?

Assange's methods are divisive while Anderson has created a self-organizing superstructure that could easily rival in size any governmental network within 10 years. It will be lean, efficient, and highly superior to facebook.

Feb 17 2011: If Assange is truly independent of the Gov (and not just a subterfuge) than I support him and the effort 1000% And want to see more! The gov. should not have copyright on information and empowerment. Its time to rise up! Just like Egypt. Your gov is corrupt and tyrannical!

There's a vote at 10.45 as to what the TED crowd thinks of Julian Assange. That was taken in July a week before the first really big set of leaks. It would be interesting to see how they would vote today.

  Feb 20 2011: I think the difference is that Assange is apparently a libertarian bent on "creative destruction" in response to what he sees as a conspiracy, whereas Mr A seems to be a fluffy liberal trying to build on what we have in a positive direction.
