If drinking and driving is illegal, why do bars have parking lots? & this is not only in India its all over the world.

All over the world its strictly ordered not to drive your vehicle when you are drunk,but all Bars do have their own private parking lots ...why so..?

Drinker's in their unconscious state do take their vehicle in ruthlessly way down the roads of their city .

    Almost similar kind of question I faced from my son , when he was 3+. One day he asked "whether a lemon is a fruit or vegetable?"As know it all adult, my quick answer was "It's a fruit".

    Then faced the dynamite of 2nd question which I loved but had difficulty to answer quickly as realized I am a fool in the cocoon of "Know It All Adulthood"

    His instant 2nd question was "why then lemon is only sold from vegetable stall or shop ?( in Bangaldesh and many countries I saw it's really so, actually after learning from my son I become more observant at least for lemon !)

    As I tried to answer lovely dynamite question of my son , so I will do here as well, which is; it's the same reason like the all car race winners do open a bottle of champagne :)

    Apr 29 2011: The bars have parking spaces so people can come and leave in a car. Drinking and driving is illegal, but neither drinking nor driving is illegal by itself. Also, it is not the duty of the pub to prevent drunk driving, they can at the most put up "Drink responsibly" signs.

    People can come in and drink under the legally set amount for driving, they can come in a group and nominate a driver who won't drink etc.

    The pub doesn't have to close it's parking spaces to prevent drunk driving; infact, that doesn't even guarantee that drunk driving will be lessened.
