What is the most important question you should ask yourself?

In an attempt to grow as a person, what is the most important question you should ask yourself?

Apr 28 2011: Lee, you know how to be deep, I got to give it to you man.

A question everyone should ask themselves: "What if I am wrong about [insert topic]?"

A question I ask myself daily: "Where am I going with this?"

Apr 28 2011: Why thank you Nicholas.
    • Apr 29 2011: Totally agreed. "What if I'm wrong?" it's the question that keeps you away from arrogance, and teaches you feel empathy. The roads toward humility and compassion.
  • May 5 2011: In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter?
    • thumb
May 5 2011: In the broad spectrum of reality what matters?
      • May 5 2011: Maybe not even matter itself ;-). But seriously, as Richard Carlson writes, "Don't sweat the small stuff and its all small stuff" - well.. mostly.
  • Apr 30 2011: 2 weeks ago I realized that out of the circa 29.000 days of an average life-span, I already have used 9.000.
Now I ask myself every day:

I have only 20.000 days left. Do I really want to spend one of them with what I'm doing at the moment?

Apr 30 2011: Go on an adventure!
      • Apr 30 2011: Thanks for the idea Nicholas :-)
Actually, I will do so. It will start in about 4 weeks. I'm looking forward to travel for 4 months, through the US, maybe South America, maybe Asia.
And for next week, I'm excited to give a workshop for students (while being one myself) about how to find out what you want to do with your life.

        edit: check your email ;)

Apr 30 2011: If you need a hand and have a place for me to stay i would totally join!

Apr 29 2011: am i really all the things that are outside of me?
    • thumb
      Apr 29 2011: Great question!

I could give you a lesson on cognitive educations if you would like Tim! Bring your actuality into a whole new focus!

Apr 29 2011: its from a song! but i love the question, becuase generaly i find the answere to be yes, and i find comfort in this. oh rly?
    • thumb
May 5 2011: ahhhh profound..very deep thanks tim

Apr 28 2011: My question I ask myself when I feel myself getting heated, or worked up about something is, "If I take a step back and look at the present situation or occurrence in perspective to real world happenings, is it seriously worth my time or energy?"
  • thumb
May 16 2011: Can I love and walk equally with the person inside me for my entire life
and to the outside what can I give to connect it all together

How can I understand what new way can i see
through who's shoes, can i listen, share and expand.
  • May 9 2011: How am I feeling / what am I thinking right now?
  • thumb
May 4 2011: my candidate: how do you know?
  • thumb
May 4 2011: How about: Is what I am doing/saying fair?
  • thumb
Apr 30 2011: How the heck do I get out of THIS mess?
    • thumb
Apr 30 2011: Do you have to ask it often?
      • thumb
Apr 30 2011: Not really, Debra, but once in a while...

There's a serious side to that comment, though. I think we learn and grow from dealing with the problems that involve us, and especially those that we create for ourselves that cause us to resolve to never, never let it happen again.
  • Apr 29 2011: Who do I want to be? (leading from "who am I now," and leading to "how do i get there")
  • thumb
Apr 29 2011: "Who the hell do you think you are?"

Less of a question, more of a good idea...

    "Think for yourself, shmuck!"
  • thumb
Apr 29 2011: What do I love to do, how do I become very good at doing it, and how can I use it to help others?
  • thumb
Apr 28 2011: Does The Matrix have me?
    • thumb
      Apr 29 2011: haha

Someone would of hacked it by now!

Unless that's what shamans have been doing for centuries...

Oh noes, my jokey answer has shattered perception on the universe!
  • thumb
Apr 28 2011: Is this ( whatever I am doing in the moment) meaningful to others, making any contribution to humanity
EDIT: ( inspired by Tom Atlee) Am I serving life, life that is here now, life of future times and generations.

Apr 28 2011: Why am I doing this?
    • thumb
      Apr 29 2011: Why not?
      • thumb
Apr 30 2011: Sometimes when I get embroiled in a conversation that is what I ask myself.
  • thumb
Apr 28 2011: I think it's possible to grow in many ways, but (if I may read into your question a bit) I'd like to direct that growth, not just allow it to happen. So my question would be, whom do I want to be?
