    Feb 4 2014: How about more companies providing an apartment as part of your salary package. If you live in the building you work in you don't need to commute. But real estate is very expensive in the city I hear you say. Yes but the whole concept of a CBD is rapidly becoming redundant. Why does a bank need to have it's head office in the city for example?

      Feb 4 2014: That was done before: in the early days some coal miners has to live in company housing and shop at the company store, and at the end of the day they were deeper in dept.
      EI: rent and food cost was greater than what they could earn.

        Feb 5 2014: If you don't want the apartment negotiate something else. We are talking about easing traffic congestion in the city afterall. It's not an isolated mining town in the middle of nowhere.
