How can one applaud Sir Ken's talk and support Common Core?

I've noticed a curious combination where folks seem to applaud everything Sir Ken Robinson said in his TED Talk AND seem to support Common Core. These are oppsites are they not? Sir Ken advocates passionately for less standardization and Common Core is vastly more standardization. Sir Ken encourages less Command and Control and Common Core is the epitomy of Command and Control. Agree or disagree?
