Why are people so divided?

Simple question maybe. Could it be outside influences? Traditions? Cultures? Beliefs? Anything else?

    Jul 23 2013: Hi Joshua,
Outside influences, traditions, cultures, beliefs, etc., provide information. How we use the information, may influence how we think and feel about others.....whether or not we choose to be divided and separate, or whether we have curiosity to learn, grow and evolve as people who share this earth. I would not deny myself the opportunity to learn about traditions, cultures and beliefs that I did not previously know. In my humble perception, it is a gift we can offer each other, which offers the opportunity to connect, rather than disconnect:>)

Jul 23 2013: Joshua, Glad you asked. This is a opinion. We get some from culture, parents, friends, and leadership that helps to form policy. Last week President Obama made a speech about the Zimmerman case in Florida and emphasized that if a white person had been shot the whole thing would have been handled differently. That the case and the trail was racial.

He could have supported the verdict ... he could have said that NO ONE should not be subject to the stand your ground law .... but he instead reduced it to racial hatred.

He had a opportunity to bring us together .... he chose to cause a deeper divide. He also stated he would use federal resources to change the Florida law plus seek federal charges against Zimmerman.

Many of these problems are stirred by the media and leadership. Some are cultural and taught in the home.

However, leaders at all levels when expressing negative statements give permission to radicals to perform acts of violence. Thus causing deeper divides.

I will take big hits of this being a political rant. It is not. It's about leadership and answering your question.

Jul 23 2013: So LaMar ... you think this was good leadership ... This is not about politics ... it is about leadership at any and all levels .... about further dividing a country ... focus on the conversation instead of gunning for the responder.

Jul 22 2013: My hypothesis is that there is a deep evolutionary explanation for why people (and possibly other animals as well) seek to distinguish themselves from others. That people would seek to recognize threats to their safety is one likely source. A position of rivalry for mates is another.
  • Jul 22 2013: To many, compromise implies weakness.

There also are frequently no penalties for continuing to argue, and some enjoy the argument more than taking the action.

Jul 23 2013: Your assumption is that people are divided. Is that true? Divided geographically? Yes, we cannot all live in the same place. Divided philosophically? Yes, there is no limit to the human imagination which powers the generation of religions and life views. Divided genetically? Yes, some are gifted athletically, some intellectually, some have adapted to cold, some to heat, some to deserts, and some to mountains. Divided culturally? Yes. etc. etc. Are these division contrary to the optimum functioning of life on Earth?. . . well, are they? My point is these differences are not the problem. Conflict is the problem. Disputes and disharmony cannot be eliminated by erasing the natural divisions among mankind. The enemy is not the divisions, the enemy is selfishness, greed, pride, arrogance, envy, etc. etc. The condition of the human heart is not what it was meant to be. If we had hearts of flesh rather than hearts of stone we could all thrive with our divisions. How can a person get a new heart? There lies the answer.
  • Jul 23 2013: Different personal experiences will cause divisions in peoples beliefs. Also, there are hordes of manipulators in society all vieing for the minds, souls and votes of the masses.

Great question, I'll come back and add more later. :D

Jul 23 2013: Selfish thoughts, words and deeds divide people to no end.

Selfless actions unite people to each other.

    Jul 22 2013: .

The reasons for "Why are people so divided?":

    (1) People have ultra-high accuracy for survival.
    (2) Any person's soul is formed differently with ultra-high accuracy.

Jul 22 2013: We're clones with slight differences to make us compatible and variable, other than that it's cultural but there is not another consciousness like you in existence anywhere. You are unique. Sure there are similarities and shared behavior traits but no two people are synced in thought.

Jul 22 2013: I was just thinking earlier about how you have the americans over here, and the chinese over there, and the russians over there etc etc......its like a big separation that has always been that way. I can definitely see the instinct for survival being a good reason.
