Do we think while meditating?

What if I told you that we actually have a higher mental activity while in deep meditation not less!! I’ve actually been saying this for some time now & of course been laughed at by most other spiritually aware people in saying so but this is the second scientific study I have come across saying the something. It’s important we are fully aware of ourselves & stop burying our heads in the sand just because it goes against our old conscious beliefs.

As quoted from the link below: Gamma brain waves (39-100 hz) are involved in higher mental activity and consolidation of information. An interesting study has shown that advanced Tibetan meditators produce higher levels of gamma than non-meditators both before and during meditation.

The below link is an interesting read:

  • Jul 8 2013: Well you are definitely not using as much of your brain as you would with complicated mathematics but it definitely isn't doing nothing. When you are meditating and if you've been doing it awhile your brain naturally releases DMT a natural hallucinogen every human has that is also released in large amounts nearing death.

I wonder if there is a study in how the brain is working while mathematicians are working with complex maths? It would be interesting to find out if their brain activity is in the gamma range, they definitely use more of the brain than someone meditating but at what frequency?
      • Jul 9 2013: Brain in the gamma range? what does that mean

When we are in our deepest sleep, according to the studies, we sleep in delta mode which is the least active our brain functions but when we are meditating in gamma mode our brains are more active but only within certain regions of the brain, usually the parts of the brain we very rarely use in every day life.

I have found most spiritually aware people believe we don't think at all while in deep meditation however this scientific study proves otherwise & in actual fact our brains are more active which I have always said, you could imagine what sort of conversation I had with them & of course this isn't the only scientific study that has proved this.

I'm spiritually aware myself but not to the blind faith stage as I also love science.
