How well informed are we (the TED community)

After reading many conversations I begin to wonder if we, the TED community, are guilty of the same thing Congress does. Congress passes laws that have not been read ... many of us (me too) make comments on subjects that I / we are not well informed on. I watched a show that the interviewer asked questions both abroad and in the states on many issues and just general questions. Even on TED I find the non US responders often have a keen insight into US woes that make me reconsider.

So I made a list: Which of the following are you informed on or have read up on.

1. UN Article 21 .... 2. US Senate Bill S.744 .... 3. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act .... 4. Executive order 13575 (White House Rural Council) ... 5. DHS purchase of Ammo / armored vehicles / drones / police force ... 6. Quantitative Easing 3 ... 7. the fed buys 85 billion dollars a month in bonds ... 7. Education: CORE / STEM / PISA Exams.

Because I hold TED in high regard ... and this is a very informal survey .... it would be interesting to know if you have contacted your representatives about any of these or anything within the last year.

This is not about politics .... it is just a gage of how well informed we as a group are. Since TED members are mostly well educated and rounded I would say that our numbers would be higher that the average citizen.

By the way almost all of the above have been the topic of a TED conversation.

I will go out on a limb and bet that non US citizens are better informed on these issues that the US citizens.
