Why is America at war?

I understand the reasons that America decided to initially enter this on going war. I also realize there is much debate about the beginning.
I am mostly interested to hear general people's honest answers to "Why is America currently at war"?

Jun 8 2013: For some big companies but not for tax payers and the poor in the military who shed their blood and lose limbs.

Also perhaps money for some factions in the countries being fought in, but less so for the common people.

I notice the USA is trying to get its troops out of the war and rely more on drones etc. Perhaps a good investment to buy some shares.

Who cared for common people ever in any country ?

Jun 7 2013: Just a small matter of global dominance, occupy natural resources of other nations, sell weapons to different armed groups + you also gotta use your weapons or else they might oxidize in 'em warehouses.

And hey I almost forgot, parasite organizations with EVIL agendas who've deep roots in so called 'democratic' government...

Could go on and on but it won't matter ;)

Jun 7 2013: LOL, mediocre! I wish they were that good. ;)
Although in their defense I can’t think of a country with politicians that are good in the art of conflict resolution. Sadly wars are easier to get into then out of; maybe someday they will learn and think before they act.

Many complain about how long the war on terror has been, and although I do agree I ask that you consider that shorter wars have had higher death tolls.
So if longer time in war is the cost of less lives lost, I say let’s start having thousand year wars.

Jun 10 2013: If by "war" you mean having our armed forces in harm's way then it must be recognized that we have almost never been not at war. If by "war" you mean formally declared war then it must be recognized that we have not been at war since the mid-40's. So, it could be argued that we are not at war. Or, it could be argued that we have always been at war. Either way the answer to your question is the same. . . we put troops in harm's way to protect and defend ourselves and our allies.

Americas do stand for freedom and liberty for all, even when your leaders fail to express that.

There is a civil war going on, but I fear commenting on that with good reasons.

Jun 7 2013: Oh plz cut the freedom crap. Get out of your home and walk downtown Saint Louis you'll find MANY 14-yo girls who have to prostitute themselves for some dollars...

Not to mention all those creeps who've God knows how many young girls in their cellars...

THERE ARE PROBLEMS EVERYWHERE. USA NEED TO SORT ITS OWN FIRST AND STOP SHEDDING MORE BLOOD.

Malala took a bullet cuz she had courage and I don't think she did it thanks to Americans...!
