What are you best at?

How many of us know what we want to achieve in life?
How to discover our capability, so that you can work on/for your dreams?

May 26 2013: I can say that I'm best at being curious:)
I want to know more to understand what is my real passion and then - to become the best at my passion!
    • May 28 2013: Thanks Marina. As you said: "I want to know more to understand what is my real passion". My question what you want to know to discover your passion - Working at it is a question that comes later.

      Do you agree.

May 26 2013: Are you a young person who has not yet tried many things or someone who has tried many things and cannot decide in which area you have the most potential to make an impact and lead a satisfying life?

I can think of no other way of finding out whether you are good at things than by trying them and noticing both whether you seem to have a talent for them and whether doing them is engaging and uplifting for you.
    • May 28 2013: Thanks Fritzie. I am 30 yrs old. Your reply first paragraph is mostly right. You are right that I "cannot decide in which area you have the most potential"

In response to your question "cannot decide in which area you have the most potential" - I have heard there is some simulator/ online test to check your desires, potential and what interest you in life.

May 28 2013: You are probably right that there are such diagnostic instruments online, though I do not know how reliable they are thought to be. When I was young, there was an extremely popular book along these lines called What Color Is Your Parachute.

I believe Kenneth Robinson is coming out with a book this summer about how to identify your passion. I know there are other books specifically on this subject as well.
        • May 29 2013: Hello Fritze, Can you please suggest me couple of books like this.

May 29 2013: I would need to do an internet search just as you would. If you do a search for "finding your passion," I am sure you will find loads of material. Do look up the two I suggested in my earlier post.

May 27 2013: Probably most people know what they want to achieve in life, we see people all around us moving with effort and purpose towards something.

If you don't know your capability, I think life will force you to find out. After all, you have to eat, and in order to eat you have to work, and when you work you will choose something that is acceptable to you. If the job you choose you find you don't like, you will try to move to another job until you find something you like.
    • May 28 2013: Thanks Greg. I know there no way to discover one's passion. It just comes to you but one should know what (s)he is good at? Moreover, sometime in life you get influenced very easily. In my 6'th grade I wanted to be a pilot but couldn't. Between then and now there have been so many change in thoughts but what shall I pursure?

May 28 2013: well, you can certainly talk to your family and friends about it. You are doing good talking on TED. You can talk to people doing certain jobs and ask them how they like it, for example, if you think you might like to be some job, you can go find someone doing that job and ask them how they like it.

Don't worry if you make a mistake. If you choose the wrong job, you will soon find out it was a bad choice, and then you can steer toward something else. And nothing you learn from a prior job, even if you didn't like the job, will be wasted.

May 29 2013: I try to be best in giving happiness to my loved ones.

In future i want to increase the list to include people i do not know.

May 29 2013: I am best at making myself happy most of the time.

That is the most important thing to me , just to be happy.
    • May 29 2013: That's good. What makes to happy? My question is not materialistic.....its spiritual!!!!!!

May 29 2013: I am trying to follow the dictum

First pretend to be happy, it becomes our habit and than it becomes our character
  • May 29 2013: I wish I can find an answer soon....I have curious for 30 but I would not like to be more curious. Just kidding. All I mean is - there are two fundamentals of success in life

    1. Vision
    2. Focus

Now its is very debatable what comes earlier for me its "Focus" and that is how we open our Brains. Vision means how far we can go and what breakthroughs we achieve in our prof life.

@ Colleen & @ Fritze, I am a good moderator. At-least that's what I believe. And I wish I could motivator for people in life. Can you guys help. I contacted people @ but no response from there side, yet. Its been more than a month.

    May 27 2013: .
    My answer:

Instinctively, "we want to achieve in life" is to keep our DNA alive,
    knowing it or not.

May 26 2013: I try to do my "best" with whatever I'm doing in the moment:>)

If you are trying to discover your "best" Kush, explore many different interests and follow your heart. What makes your heart sing? What brings you joy and bliss? What is very satisfying?
    • May 28 2013: It is not very easy to experiment things when you like in a country like India, where resources are limited. Although, I agree with you. Thanks Colleen.
      • thumb
May 28 2013: True Kush, that limited resources may cause limited exploration. Trust yourself....believe in yourself and your own creativity:>)

May 26 2013: I'm best at designing solutions to problems. Or maybe helping others to think and act the way they want.

I'm an architecture student, And i'm really great at my work. I'm just using the skills i mentioned to reach my goals in architecture.
    • May 29 2013: Thanks Amir. I am not very good at architecture but I love interior designs and natural photography. Can I assist you in some way?
