Mankind creates Monster's to avoid coming to the conclusion that we are the most frightening Monsters of all.

I am currently an English Literature student in my third year, and I am very interested in the ideas of monsters in Literature, along with their sociological, cultural, religious, ideological effects.

Monster's permeate every branch of humanity and I would like to listen to everyone else's opinions on the matter.

May 1 2013: The monsters that interest me are Dragons. We are taught that they are mythical creatures, but they have an uncanny resemblance to the known Dinosaurs we're digging up. Soft body tissue is being found in the bones, & cave paintings etc give accurate depictions. Maybe, like the Coelacanth http://www.dinofish.com/ , they did not go extinct 65 million years ago ?
Maybe more of out "monsters" have a basis in truth ?
