If you have NEVER been to Africa, when someone mentions "Africa" or you hear "Africa", what is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind?

People associate different regions/continent based on media, informational material, myths, stereotypes and such. The main idea of this discussion is to find out what people who never had "first hand experience" think about the continent. Thanks for your contribution.

Apr 17 2013: Unfortunatelly, I'll have to say it's the poverty and skinny black people. These images are massively used in propaganda and just stick to our brains. But, Africa is a very diverse place. I don't think that you can have only one image of the entire continent. For example, I live in Brazil, which is just one country, and still, you can't have only one image to illustrate the whole nation. :)

      Apr 20 2013: Hey Jade,
Thanks for sharing your thought and your view. I agree that images are used MASSIVELY in propaganda...I hope Africans will utilize their massive resources and solve their own challenges....I also agree that Africa is a big continent and it hard to have only an image.
