If you have NEVER been to Africa, when someone mentions "Africa" or you hear "Africa", what is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind?

People associate different regions/continent based on media, informational material, myths, stereotypes and such. The main idea of this discussion is to find out what people who never had "first hand experience" think about the continent. Thanks for your contribution.

  • Apr 17 2013: i feel the pain of colonisation, neocolonialism, the war propagated by the west, the exploitations by the western companies, their insatiable quest to make profit at the expense of human lives... i think of companiew in Zambia copperbelt, the titanium mining in Kenya and all the derelict they leave behind in the name of helping countries! When Africa is mentioned i think of what the other guys think because i know it is a fair place to be were it not for the mind gamew these guys in control engage us in!

      Apr 18 2013: Hi Lewis,
Thanks for sharing your thought....Africa is a great place to be...Africans has been resilient despite challenges that we have faced. It is sad however to know some African problems are mainly caused by individual selfish interest. Hope all will be.
      Love, Mary
