If you have NEVER been to Africa, when someone mentions "Africa" or you hear "Africa", what is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind?

People associate different regions/continent based on media, informational material, myths, stereotypes and such. The main idea of this discussion is to find out what people who never had "first hand experience" think about the continent. Thanks for your contribution.

      Apr 17 2013: Hey Maureen,
      Thanks for sharing your thought.
I know how frustrating it is for numerous foreigners who can't transfer their renowned skills into US market. It is a price I think most foreigners has to pay for migrating to No.1 continent.
However, America with all it shortcoming has an efficient education system compared to most continents. Through determination and effort one can go back to school while working at an age and gain the skill set needed. Encourage your cousin to look at the brighter side if he really want to live and settle here.
      Love, Mary
