If you have NEVER been to Africa, when someone mentions "Africa" or you hear "Africa", what is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind?

People associate different regions/continent based on media, informational material, myths, stereotypes and such. The main idea of this discussion is to find out what people who never had "first hand experience" think about the continent. Thanks for your contribution.

  • Apr 11 2013: Mary: you pose a most interesting question. A group of us (seniors just outside Baltimore) were discussing that very question on Skype this evening. Our conclusion was that we have more to learn from Africa than we can teach, if we get our priorities right.
This video shows a community of muslims, jews and christians living and working in harmony and peace in Uganda:

      Apr 16 2013: Hi Charles
What an inspiration...I watched the clip and I was moved by "Peace can start with simple people, from the ground it will grow".....It such a great wisdom that we can live and coexist harmoniously while developing and improving our economic and social conditions.
Thanks so much for such an inspiration. I would like to learn more about your discussion.
      Love, Mary
