If you have NEVER been to Africa, when someone mentions "Africa" or you hear "Africa", what is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind?

People associate different regions/continent based on media, informational material, myths, stereotypes and such. The main idea of this discussion is to find out what people who never had "first hand experience" think about the continent. Thanks for your contribution.

Apr 10 2013: I think of the negatives like the abundance of poverty and its effects on the people of the land, naturally, but my mind gets consumed by the beauty in what it would be like. But my first thought is always Beautiful dark skin that is appreciated and the story behind melanin.

      Apr 11 2013: Hey Aurie,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and surely black is beauty and the story behind each creation is amazing......yeah the story behind our skin colors (melanin) is an interesting one.....
And thanks for sharing both side of the same coin. Yes Africa has it challenges it need to face and solve such as poverty, war, and such....however it has needed resources and just need to steer to the right direction.
Hope you visit Africa one day and enjoy the beauty.......start with Kenya:)
      Love, Mary
