If you have NEVER been to Africa, when someone mentions "Africa" or you hear "Africa", what is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind?

People associate different regions/continent based on media, informational material, myths, stereotypes and such. The main idea of this discussion is to find out what people who never had "first hand experience" think about the continent. Thanks for your contribution.

  • Apr 4 2013: Mount Killimanjaro, famine, incredible Kenyan marathon runners, the novel "Cutting for Stone." I"m sure there's more, but those are the first things that come to mind.

      Apr 5 2013: Hey Bonnie,
You are the first to name Kenyan marathon runners....woooah....As a reward, I give you a Kenyan name if you may allow me. "Bonnie Korir". Yes Mount Kilimanjaro is incredible...famine is there too....Africa and our global brothers and sisters should make it a priority to ensure that basic necessity are available to all.

      Love, Mary
