If you have NEVER been to Africa, when someone mentions "Africa" or you hear "Africa", what is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind?

People associate different regions/continent based on media, informational material, myths, stereotypes and such. The main idea of this discussion is to find out what people who never had "first hand experience" think about the continent. Thanks for your contribution.

          Apr 4 2013: Nihao Arrietti,

Xie Xie for telling me what scrag means...am in the learning process....Yes, the media has succeeded in painting the hungry children pictures into people mind.
The thin and malnourished children exist in Africa but not the extent that people think of. There is a big portion of healthy vibrant children and adult in Africa.....
We just need to change the image and let people know the truth.......The beautiful side of Africa that all should learn and visit to see....(You should visit Kenya...I worked with some Chinese and we twice went for safaris...they enjoyed....i took them to my village and were amazed by the niceness of my parents and villagers.....)

          Love, Mary
