can we increase revolution of 4 stroke petrol engine.....by help of gears...?

what will be if we connect one big gear with crank shaft of engine....and one small gear with that large gear...
because if large gear have 40 pitch and small gear have 10 pitch...then small gear get 4 revolution(rotation) on each rotation of large gear.....so like this we can increase the revolution per one petrol drop...

    Mar 11 2013: It's called a gearbox. Every car etc. has one to maximise the output of the engine.
