Can Love Change the World? ♥

Through loving ourselves and loving others, giving love freely to all, with no expectation of receiving anything in return, can we united together change the world, improve the world and our lives, through Love? Perhaps we could each do an experiment and see what happens. :)

  • Jun 27 2011: Reminds me of a Burt Bacharach/Hal David song

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No not just for some but for everyone....

Apr 2 2011: One thing is certain for me and that is if I approach the world in an open and loving manner the interactions change me for the better. We cannot mandate a loving attitude for anyone else and there will always be people who by temperment or by experience are not very loving but consistency on our part in interacting kindly and lovingly can impact them- perhaps as slowly as erosion but eventually.
    • Apr 3 2011: Beautifully said~!!! It's not slow anymore though, the LOVE is spreading at the speed of LIGHT. It's a beautiful thing. LOVE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR LOVE ♥ ;)

Apr 1 2011: Love moves the world forward.

It makes things happen, its how we survive. Love can over power ego too, so I like to think, that it is the reason we, as a species have come so far.

So yes, it will change the world. It is changing our world as we speak
    • Apr 2 2011: YES! It is. It's a beautiful thing. ♥ ;)

Apr 3 2011: What is love,

Asked so often. A question that if asked at the correct time will be like saying I love you. Love is an emotion; I know it is just that simply. However emotions are no simple subject. Emotions are responsible for everything we do as human beings do; they effect every decision, every idea, every word, every movement, every thought, etc. So, emotions are necessary as a part of your life, your emotions create who, what, where, when and why you are you. You can learn to manipulate them, understand them, and even control them. Except one.

Apr 3 2011: It is a big question! I'd like you to post it on the link if you please, as well as the mail you sent me!

Apr 2 2011: I believe that love is the only hope that humanity has today. that's why we have to spread love to all people around us as much as we possibly can.

If we ever want to live without war, poverty and such we have to learn to love all of humanity. We need to realize that every problem today isn't just Americas problem or Africas problem or Europes problem, all of the problems are humanitys problem and we need to face these problems together or the humanity will most likely not be anymore.

Apr 1 2011: You are asking if the following is a true statement "When the power of love is greater than the love of power, the world will know peace" As a futurist, humanitarian, transhumanist, and a spiritual person I can tell you you are most definitely correct. Emotions are important to understanding human beings as an individual or as a group better than anything else, because emotions are the basis and the result of life.
  • Mar 31 2011: Love can change the world of the one giving love. The world may or may not respond back to the giver in a loving way. So part of your premise I agree with. I will choose to love and expect nothing in return. Sometimes my world will reflect a better place, sometimes it will not. I have been conducting the experiment that you suggest for over 20 years now. My world is indeed a better place. Not a perfect place but a better place.
    • thumb
Mar 31 2011: Unconditional love means giving without expectations. If we love unconditionally, it doesn't matter if the rest of the world responds or not. It is a choice. That is the beauty of it! Glad your world is a better place:>)

Jun 1 2011: Hello , I'm new here and I'm a underage kid but I'm interested in stuffs like this and My opinion is
Love can change the world into a better place because if we know what is love and have a heart for people and when people got inspired by us , they would most likely to change. Okay. I don't know how to explain :/ but I hope you're fine with this. Have a nice day! :D
  • May 10 2011: thank you debra
  • May 7 2011: You cannot compel someone to love. You can suggest, implore, beg but the power of that love is finite. While creating a paradox for the party who resists, that love falls flat. For love to flourish it must be reciprocated and nurtured. Tolerance is possible. To love and be loved by all is impossible.
  • May 6 2011: I believe that love can change a lot in ouirselfs and can make us treat the pepole surrounding in different ways of care and understanding.
Hate brings more hate and violince cause more violince which doesn't lead to any place, bring war and destroy the life of humanity.

May 6 2011: What I said is very summary but I fill me a bit now : this experiment is imposible only for the simple fact that we can't love each other too much (and when there is a break in our love to each other always have been greed , hate .... and will ever be) , more than that we don't wanna it , this was proved throughout the all history , so we don't have this option to make this experiment to happen but we can do something and this is the most important thing : we can STRIVE to love each other ...............if you will look carefully at what means the life you will reach at the same point with me : that the life means only a continue process of STRIVING (to nowhere for the most).

May 6 2011: i believe that someone could go beyond striving to love and actually love everyone, therfore i could assume then the wole world could do this. its not impossible.

Mar 31 2011: It changes the world every day.
(As does hatred and all our other emotions... and computers and harvesting and (&c &c...))

Love will not, however, bring your image of an ideal world. And it certainly isn't the answer to all questions.

But Love is desirable so: here is some love for you! And love for any reader! for free!
(and yes, there is a little sarcasm here, although not completely)
    • Mar 31 2011: I believe, and know in my heart, that Love is the answer to all questions. And, thank you for your Love, I accept it! Sending Infinite Love and Eternal Blessings in your direction. ♥ ;)

Love does bring my image of an ideal world into existence because I choose it to be so, and I share that with everyone and everything I encounter. It's a conscious choice we all make. I feel Love, I think Love, I give Love, I embody Love, I perceive Love, I choose Love, therefore everything I do is an expression of Love and becomes Love.

We are mirrors for one another. We are all so very connected, similar to the neural network in the brain or the mycelial network of fungi. We have the ability to project that which we feel and think, which radiates outward affecting the collective whole.

Love seems to be the common ground upon which we can all agree to meet. Semantics, religions, nationality, gender, opinions, social class, rhetoric, all differences aside; we all need it, we all desire it, we're all born with it inside of us. It seems we've exhausted every other option, tried everything else, why not try Love? I believe it's worth a try.

      Mar 31 2011: Christophe,
I accept your love, and hope you will accept my love in return. Although you say that yours may be sarcastic, mine is not. It is real and genuine:>)

To share love with "everyone and everything I encounter" as you do Melanie, is a gift I give myself. It is pleasurable in each and every moment, and I would not deny myself the opportunity:>) It is, as you say, a choice:>) We are love...we choose love...or not...we are all connected...we have the ability to project love, which radiates outward affecting the collective whole...it is a common ground...WHEN we can put aside semantics, religions, nationality, gender, opinions, social class, rhetoric and all differences. YES! It does work:>) It is, as you say, something we know in our hearts and we have been disconnected from this information.! Thanks for the reminder:>)
      • Apr 1 2011: Colleen,
That was beautifully said. Thank you for expressing and sharing your love with all. It is much appreciated. You are correct, it is a gift we give to ourselves, and we are love. ;) Love truly makes the world go 'round. People are so desperately craving it, and I have seen so many hearts blossom because the love I express is simply reminding others of the love they possess within, it is empowerment. It's not forcing my love upon anyone else, it's an offering, it's saying, "I see you, I see you for who and what you truly are, and I love you because we are one, we are brothers and sisters, so intrinsically connected, we originate from the same source." It is simply living my life as an example for others to see that it's okay to open up our hearts, to feel vulnerable, you are not alone, we are all in this together, and I love you just because.

You are so very welcome. I will share my love with all, always, because I know that it makes a difference.

I only express what I have personally experienced and observed. At one time, I acted very selfishly and negatively, and I observed the reactions of others to my behavior and realized that I was able to "pull" someone out of their happy-go-lucky, positive space and into my negative "funk" by simply speaking, thinking, and feeling negatively. That is not fair to anyone. So, it dawned on me one day, if my negative energy can have that huge of an effect on other people and the world around me, then what would happen if I tried the opposite and made sure that I wasn't going around "spewing" my negativity all over everyone else, if I was to deal with it myself because it was no one else's responsibility to sort through but my own. At first, it was a sort of "fake it 'til you make it" type of experience, but after awhile I saw the beautiful butterfly effect it was having on all I encountered, that one must give in order to receive, that the universe takes care of us, my life has never been the same since. ♥ ;)

Mar 31 2011: Love can certainly change individual lives. Changing the whole world seems a utopian, unfortunately. :)

    • Mar 31 2011: The Weight of a Snowflake

Tell me the weight of a snowflake,” a coalmouse asked a wild dove.

“Nothing more than nothing,” the dove answered.

“In that case I must tell you a marvelous story,” the coalmouse said. “I sat on a fir branch close to the trunk when it began to snow. Not heavily, not in a raging blizzard. No, just like in a dream, without any violence at all. Since I didn’t have anything better to do, I counted the snowflakes settling on the twigs and needles of my branch. Their number was exactly 3,471,952. When the next snowflake dropped onto the branch–nothing more than nothing — as you say — the branch broke off.”

Having said that, the coalmouse ran away.

The dove, since Noah’s time an authority on peace, thought about the story for a while. Finally, she said to herself, “Perhaps there is only one person’s voice lacking for peace to come to the world.”

        Mar 31 2011: Love the story Melanie:>)

Funny you should mention snowflakes. I live near the home of "Snowflake Bentley", who studied snowflakes for many years. He studied and photographed thousands of snowflakes, and was the first to recognize that each and every snowflake is different. Each and every one is beautiful and unique in itself, and when grouped together, has the power to cause the branch to break,...or what else? What if that power and strength is used in a different way?
        • Apr 1 2011: I love that! How beautiful. The power and strength of love is the strongest thing there is. Positivity cancels out negativity. Love cancels out hate. Love heals. Love binds. Love unites. Love accepts. Love judges not. Love simply Loves. ♥ ;)
    • Mar 31 2011: Sergio: She's from San Francisco. 'Nuff said. ♥
      • Mar 31 2011: I just put that because it mandated that I input a zip code. I am originally from California, but I am a world traveler. I pledge allegiance to the well-being of all. I am a human being, first and foremost, interested only in what benefits humanity as a whole. ♥

Mar 31 2011: Revett,What difference does it make where a person is from? This does not sound like you my friend. You who picked up roots and traveled to far off lands? That's not "Nuff said". What are you trying to express?
        • Apr 1 2011: Melanie, Colleen, it was a joke!

"If you're going / to San Francisco / Be sure to wear wear / Some flowers in your hair..."

          Oh well...

        • Apr 1 2011: 1967. So was I. I was still living in England but I visited my sister who lived in SFO at the time. Are you the cute chick I was making eyes at in the Buena Vista down near The Cannery that Saturday evening? I never did manage to pluck up the courage to walk over and say hi.

          Ah youth... ♥
