Think of the future.

Is it inevitable that humans will create another intelligent life form? Why would one be so naive to think that process began here?

Mar 31 2011: It seems perfectly logical. Either life is a very, very rare process and therefore we should be surprised that there was an outside influence that originated our growth or life isn't that rare a process and therefore we should be surprised that there was an outside influence that originated our growth.

Perhaps I'm taking you point incorrectly, but whatever value you assign to the potential for intelligent life emerging you have to put a lesser value on it creating another biology out of whole cloth and then walking away.
