how should wealth be divided in a community and who gets to decide?
one of the most difficult conundrums that global leaders are struggling with right now is how the redistribution of wealth should be carried out.
do some deserve more than others?
should it be divided equally or based on need?
what is the deciding factor and who has the right to make this decision.

It should be divided ethically, or by instincts of symbiosis.

Not by economics, which makes invalid happiness, greed, inequality, crimes, wars, environment destruction, ... human self-extinction.

I think history proved that socialism and communism do not work. People need incentive and feel rewarded for their work fairly.
I think the main questions are:
1. how much each segment of society should be taxed? Is it fair that wealthy are paying less taxes than ever before and have means to minimize their tax contribution by paying good accountants and saving money in safe heavens?
2. how much influence corporations and wealthy should have on the government to influence laws for their benefit? How much lobbies and political contributions should be allowed?
I think wealth distribution within society should be about rewarding effort and ingenuity and at the same time giving everyone the same opportunities to succeed.

Should farmland be equally redistributed or should the 1% that could turn it into a massive amount of food get the majority?
Just like the average person can’t turn farmland into a good amount of food, the average person can’t turn money into wealth.
So consider this the average tax on millionaires is above 30%, but in Russia it is 15%. Your logic would have Russia increase its 15%, but because they did not Russia has billionaires.
Now which is greater 50% of millions or 15% of billions?
So just like dividing/redistribution of farmland would create starvation, the dividing/redistribution of wealth creates economic starvation.

Now the question becomes what to do? Do you require the wealthy to turn over most of their money to a government that has shown that they will spend it foolishly? (At least in the USA).

We need the wealthy individuals to contribute fair share. If they don't like government spending they can demand more transparency and more accountability from the government and government politicians.

The rich should give out of genuine love and concern, laws can not make them do that. But it is not helpful to have a mass of poor people with entitlement mentality.
These things are complex and would not be handled by rash decisions. Many rich have made their money by honesty and hardwork and persistence. Many poor are such due to laziness, foolishness and irresponsibility.
Just like we've got rich folks who get their money by crooked means and unjust economic systems; and then those poor folks who suffer because of the failure of the system.
Societies should step-up the fight against corruption and greed; leadership should focus on selfless service and businesses should do the same.
There would always be poor folks in the world; but we should never condone systems that keep people as the wretched of the earth.
