Resolving the dual concerns of China's one-party politics and Taiwan sovereignty in one swoop.

If Taiwan were to fully return to China whilst at the same time Taiwan's political parties were to enter China's mainstream political system as viable alternate parties that the population could vote for, would we not be solving two of the world's largest concerns in Asia, namely bringing democracy to China as well as defusing permanently military tensions across the Taiwan Straits?

    Feb 9 2013: There is one thing I don't think China will tolerate - Free Taiwan Besides remember the Ted talk about china as a culture state. Seeing what has happened in Hong Kong maybe Taiwan can get most of what it wants as a part of China, and all will benefit from starting and an ongoing discussion?
